The Big Move

January 13th

Jill and I made it to Yokosuka finally! It was no easy task thanks to my desire to have our snowboard and ski equipment with us and Jill's need for a small library in order to write research papers while we are here. That in addition to clothes and other necessities equals lots of heavy luggage. When we arrived in Tokyo after our separate 10 hour flights we met up and found the shipyard bus that would take us to Yokosuka where the base is. We crammed our bags in the bus and took a seat. About two and a half hours later we were finally at the Naval base. We had to unload our bags and then reload them into a smaller shuttle that would fit through the small streets that led to our hotel. It took about half an hour to get to the New Yokosuka Hotel. We unloaded our bags and I went to check in, when someone told me were not staying there. We had to reload our bags onto the shuttle and take another ride to the Old Yokosuka Hotel Annex...:(. Once there I checked in, found our room, and took our bags to the room with the help of Jill. It took a few trips because the elevator to the room was made for no more than two people, very small. All said and done, we left our apartment in Seattle at 10:15 AM on Monday the 12th and arrived in our hotel room at about 9:30 PM on Tuesday the 13th. Even without the time change that is a LONG trip.
Tomorrow I must wake up at 5:30 AM and go to work :(. Thank you shipyard for helping me get over the jet lag so quickly, or should I say forcing me to.
Stephen
